PyraMax Bank Volunteers to Make A Difference

PyraMax Bank continually looks to emphasize the "community" in "community bank". We do this through many various outlets, including donating to important causes, raising funds for charities, and we also volunteer our time. Through the Make A Difference non-profit organization, volunteers take time out from their busy schedules to provide a service to middle school and high school students; educating them on the importance of basic financial literacy.

Make A Difference Wisconsin is committed to educating younger generations, so that they can make stronger financial decisions for themselves. This is important, because often times financial planning is a skill that is not adequately presented in schools. Since 2006, the organization and its volunteers have taught students about the importance of financial management. Make a Difference provides volunteers with a curriculum, which they present to students, coupled with their own professional experiences to give a firsthand look into how to properly manage money. With this combination of education and real-world application, they can make a significant difference in young person's life.

Currently, the average program consists of six classroom visits, each covering a different subject of financial basics. The learning plan is broken into three seminars, covering budgeting, checking accounts, and credit cards/credit reports. These lessons are important to students, especially those planning for life after high school, because the basics are often not taught in a traditional school curriculum. Without education in basic financial literacy, teens can make poor financial decisions that may affect them throughout their adult lives.
